Meet our Guinea Pigs...
We have kept guinea pigs for many years, from pets to purebreds, since childhood we've had a great affection for them. Their behaviour and vocal ability has fascinated us right from the get go and their individual personailties continue to fill our hearts.
Many people believe the guinea pig is an unintelligent creature but have been proven very wrong. Guinea pigs are actually incredilbly intelligent to the point of being trainable to word commands and we ourselves have even attempted to train them with some success.
Here you can meet our brood by hovering over the 'GUINEA PIGS' link at the top to reveal which breeds we keep.

Outdoor Pigs
Our pig shed is a beast of a thing. Not all of our pigs live outside though, we have a herd of sows that live indoors with us, generally they are kept in the shed. As well as the pigs, the 2 rabbits live out in the shed also in, what we like to call, 'Rabbit Corner'. We make sure every body has access to a place to hide, constant water and also hay to munch on.
As you can see, it is a rather big shed!! We have yet to finish it as we plan on making 2 more big breeder blocks.
This is where we prepare all our fruit and veg. We have a fridge to store it all in to keep it fresh and the draws keep all our water bottles, food bottles, first aid necessities, newspaper etc in. Looks like Sasha wanted to get in on the photo action in this photo!!
The single big hutch is currently a small sow pen, with 2 adults and a few babies in. The block of 9 are currently housing boars who have recently been split up from their girlfriends.
This is our nursery block. We shall be using it for Mum's with new borns but currently we have Dad's and boar baby sitters with young boars in them.
This is Rabbit Corner where Hammond and Tee Gee live. They have access to the wide space 24/7 and we put things in to prevent boredom. A yellow pages usually does the trick!
Indoor Sow Pen
Lastly we have the indoor sow pen, which is currently keeping Sway, Izzy & newly retired Bea in as well as a few of the new youngsters we have recently got. They also have access to lots of hay and hides as you can see. There a couple of comfy cozies they can snuggle in to keep warm or have a little comfy nap. You can see Tia making use of the pink one in this photo!!
