Pets
Pets, in the cavy breeding world, means cross breed. You can have 2 different breeds of pigs and together produce mongrel cavies. Unlike in the dog showing world, cross bred cavies are very welcome to be shown. You can get some wonderful colours and funky hair types, which is why every so often we shall cross breed our cavies to see what combinations of funkiness we can get!!
Sway
Sway is our oldest pig here at Guinea Pigs Gone Wild. She was Corinne's first ever guinea pig and is 3 years old. Sway is an Abyssinian cross Crested which makes her an Aby x and her colouring is Tort and White. She is the Aunty pig who looks after everybody. She LOVES a kiss and a cuddle almost as much as she loves food. While judges don't seem to look favourably on her in the show ring, she is definitely the top Pig of the house hold. She has never been bred from, and never will be, but she will continue to be the caring aunty to all the new sows we add to our brood.
Izzy
Izzy, who is a Crested cross Himalayan who came to us via the RSPCA. The previous owners split up and had to give up the pair of pigs they owned (Izzy being one of them). When we saw her sat all on her own we thought "Why didn't the person who took her friend not take her also?". When we got her home, we realised why. She was all scratching, hated being cuddled and was a bully to ALL the other sows, even Sway!! She needed a more experienced home. We spent a little time each day with her and now she has settled right in. She is no longer the top of the herd (Sway is) and she is a lot more affectionate at cuddle time.
Grace Kelly
Grace is a cream and white Abyruvian cross (an Abyssinian crossed with a Peruvian). She came to us from Caroline Cartwright who breeds Pets. Grace has a sweet nature to her is very layed back and loved a cuddle. She is the latest edition to Guinea Pigs Gone Wild and we can't wait to put her in the show ring and breed her.
